About the Ministry
Because we care deeply about our youth, and believe that nurturing their faith formation, relationship with the congregation, and engagement in our community is critical in their lives and the future of our congregation, we believe that a staff individual dedicated to this ministry is essential.

During a typical week, 15 youth currently participate in the Sunday morning youth group, sanctuary worship, or Sunday morning small group. The youth have historically participated in retreats and local service opportunities, and youth camps and summer mission trips. Ministry programming includes Confirmation, Youth Sunday, and participation in different service opportunities. The dedicated youth area features a welcoming, well-equipped environment with access to the 64-acre facility.

Job Description:

The Ideal Candidate
We’re looking for candidates who possess a strong and active personal faith, demonstrate a proactive and innovative approach to ministry with a vision for growth and development, and who connect effectively with teens and their families. The church does not have a vision for a mega-church youth ministry but rather one that builds deep connections that allow all involved to grow in their spiritual foundation and support their lifetime of Christian faith.

Key Responsibilities
– Oversee the creation and implementation of engaging spiritual formation programs for 6th-12th graders, with the goal of increasing spiritual growth and participation.
– Recruit, train, and support a strong team of volunteers.
– Build strong relationships between students, and between students and volunteers, in a safe environment.
– Develop relationships with students and families by attending student events and encouraging volunteers to do the same.
– Create welcoming and engaging spaces for youth ministry activities.
– Build relationships in the community within the schools and other ministries in the community.
– Build and maintain effective systems for communication, database management, calendaring, event planning, and other essential ministry functions.
– Partner with other areas of ministry in the church. Will have additional responsibilities in digital communication in support of all areas of ministries.

Qualifications
– Passion and calling for ministering to youth and their families.
– Vibrant Christian faith and understanding of the Methodist tradition.
– Ability to relate to youth in a fun and approachable way, while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
– Entrepreneurial and innovative mindset for creating engaging ministry opportunities.
– Bachelor’s degree – preferred in Christian ministry, education, or related field.
– Experience with digital media to support communication.

Salary Range:

$45,000
