Director of Student Ministries (Full-Time) – Normal, IL

Calvary UMC is a growing mid-size (250-300 in-person attendance per Sunday) congregation in a thriving mid-sized urban community of Bloomington-Normal. The church is strategically located in a 20 year-old facility in a growing area in the community, located near schools and neighborhoods. Calvary has a strong sense of ministry and identity, and a desire to connect with the community in new and faithful ways. The youth ministries at Calvary are in a rebuild mode in this season, but the congregation wants to invest in making that a thriving, growing ministry strong point.

Calvary United Methodist Church is seeking a full time Director of Student Ministries to provide leadership, vision, and specific programs for the church’s youth ministries (grades 6-12). Responsibilities include planning, coordinating and leading ministry activities such as Sunday School, weekly youth gatherings, mission and retreat trips, community service opportunities, and special events for students. Qualifications: Strong faith in Jesus Christ; the ability to communicate the Christian faith with youth in a way that encourages commitment and discipleship; ability to recruit and train volunteers; organizational skills; self starter who can also work as a part of a team; familiarity with United Methodist teachings. Ministry experience and/or a pertinent degree are strongly preferred.
