Director of Student Ministries and Communications

Bellaire UMC, a vibrant and growing congregation in Houston, Texas is seeking a full-
time Director of Student Ministries and Communications. Candidates should have experience in and passion for the particulars of spiritual formation and discipleship with junior high and high school aged students and their families, competency in written communication, social media, and basic design. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of Wesleyan theology and a passion to continue to learn and grow.

Student Ministries (70%)
Direct, lead, and grow ministries for and by students. Invest in students as well as
their families to nurture lasting faith. Develop and support volunteers, equipping
them to lead and support ministries including but not limited to Sunday School,
regular youth group gatherings, summer activities and special events. In
collaboration with the pastors, lead a confirmation program that prepares students
intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually to be community-minded followers of
Jesus. Coordinate and collaborate with the children’s ministry program to build a
cohesive foundation in Christian faith. Advocate for the needs of students and their
families within the church.

Communications (30%)
Create and send out regular church communications including but not limited to
weekly emails and worship bulletins. Develop graphics for worship series, ministry
events, and other programs. Maintain a communications calendar that ensures
church communications are timely, relevant, and organized. Develop and implement
a style guide to ensure church communications are consistent and excellent.
