Young people need strong youth leaders now more than ever. CYMT is dedicated to investing in youth by equipping their leaders with theological education and practical youth ministry training so that they will reach more young people with the Good News of Jesus Christ.
Why do we need to invest in youth now more than ever?
One reason: FAITH SHARING
Americans reporting a non-affiliation with faith, or “nones” continues to grow. If we want to reach our country’s youth with the life-changing message of God’s love for them and abiding presence, we need to consider the ripple effect of youth ministry.
“When you support CYMT you don’t just support youth ministers and youth, you support church families and communities as well.” Katherine Keller
Your gift on May 6th and 7th will allow CYMT to look toward the future, using INNOVATION to reach a new generation. As we remember that “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever (Hebrews 13:8)” let us also remember that EVERY generation needs to hear the Good News of Christ’s powerful, transforming love.
“We also need to be invested in youth because mentoring is a cycle. Youth need to have someone pouring into them so they can pour into someone else. In our church, the youth help teach the children’s Sunday School class every few months. Because of this, the youth became friends with a 10-year old named Jeffrey.
This past August, Jeffrey was diagnosed with a very rare form of leukemia. Our church rallied in ways I have never seen a church rally. Our youth sent letters, money, and always added Jeffrey to the prayer list. They prayed boldly for healing and when the opportunity to visit him at St. Jude presented itself, they jumped at it.
Jeffrey just came home on March 26th, 2020, so our community threw him a parade. It was incredible. The youth made signs, painted their cars, and even got their families involved. It was quite a day. I have attached a video for you to see the joy of the homecoming. These youth claim Jeffrey as their own because they have been taught about discipleship. This was a model for our whole church to follow and eventually a whole community. When you support CYMT you don’t just support youth ministers and youth, you support church families and communities as well.”
